Visit the historic riverside town of Wareham situated on the River Frome and nearby River Piddle where you can enjoy some unusual fishing.
The town's oldest features are the town ancient walls and the earth ramparts surrounding it built during the 9th century by Alfred the Great. Fishing is free for coarse fish downstream and if you have a national rod licence then you can fish on the banks of the River Frome. Once you find the car park at Wareham Quay, you’ll see there are a few restaurants as well as a couple of friendly pubs, a delightful way to have a nice pint of beer while you are fishing. The town also has a marvellous collection of Lawrence of Arabia's photographs and ephemera, there is an effigy of T.E. Lawrence in St Martins Church. He died in a motorcycle accident at nearby Bovington, now famous for its Tank Museum, which is one of Dorset's top visitor attractions. The museum holds a Rolls Royce armoured car and a Borough Superior motorcycle.
