Nearby, the rocky promontory of St Bees Head, marks the central apex of the coastline and the westernmost point of Cumbria, it is the start of the Coast-to-Coast walk that terminates in Robin Hood's Bay, near Scarborough, Yorkshire on the eastern coast.
