The village is a winter sports and tourist centre giving access to some of Scotland's finest mountain scenery, it also plays host to the world famous annual Braemar Gathering in September, a major event held in the Princess Royal Park and often attended by members of the Royal Family with the participation of international athletes, pipe bands and teams from H.M.
