The Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Cambridgeshire is worthy of a visit and why not marvel at the stunning views of the Cambridge colleges whilst relaxing on a river punt, or stroll through Hayley Wood, Cambridge’s beautiful forest of ancient woodlands of oak, ash and maple. These woods are home to many breeding birds, and during the summer months it is filled with wild flowers whilst in spring, the woodland floor is a blanket of bluebells and oxlips for which the wood is famous, listen to the Great Spotted Woodpeckers drumming, while in May or June you’ll be able to hear Nightingales singing.
There are magnificent historic houses and museums to view with priceless treasures all over the region. The All Saints Church in Cambridge in particular is one of the finest examples of Gothic revival architecture in the country.
