  Inn Amenities

Appleby is an outstanding small town of some 2000 residents, and is noted for its considerable beauty and history. It is dominated by a substantial castle built by Lady Anne Clifford in the 16c and is situated on a rocky spur around which the River Eden forms a large loop. Its most famous thoroughfare, Boroughgate, is so magnificent that it just has to be seen.

OLD HALL FARMHOUSE IN APPLEBY
It is our home and we are delighted to welcome discerning guests who appreciate historic houses and a convivial atmosphere.

HOME-FROM-HOME
We firmly believe that we should offer hospitality that can only be described as "home-from-home". Naturally, we have ensured that all our rooms have private facilities and are tastefully furnished. Breakfast at Old Hall Farmhouse is a mouthwatering start to the day, and we offer fruit juices, an assortment of cereals, porridge, muesli, grapefruit segments and fresh fruit, not to mention the scrumptious cooked platter. In every respect we like to think that nothing is too much trouble for us. For instance, why not take a walk with us around Appleby, or further afield if you prefer. We take great delight in "showing off" our region and having the opportunity to point out its many features.
FOR THE MORE ENERGETIC
The Eden Valley and surrounding district is a walkers' paradise. Several famous long distance walks pass through or close by Appleby, including the Coast-to-Coast, the Pennine Way, the Eden Way, the Lady Anne Way and the Cumbrian Way, to name just a few. By arrangement we will meet guests at selected points on these routes by car.

FOR THE LESS ENERGETIC
Keep one day free to explore the smaller towns and villages by treating yourself to a nostalgic journey on the famous and scenic Settle to Carlisle Railway. Appleby railway station is a short walk away from our home.

EXPLORING BY CAR
It takes a mere half an hour by road to reach the Northern Lakes to our West and even less to reach the Yorkshire Dales to our East. The Scottish Border and Hadrian's Wall is a 45 minutes drive North. We are ideally situated for exploring some of the finest scenery in the North of England.
