  B&B Location

The Hotel is situated in the old Market Place of Cockermouth, the town regarded by many as the true gateway to the Lake District and the birthplace of William Wordsworth (whose family home is open to the public). The Hotel is a listed building of some architectural interest. Dating back to the 17th Century, the most famous mutineer in history, Fletcher Christian, after seeing his crewmates slain by Tahitian natives was said to have escaped on a ship with one Captain Folger and returned to Cockermouth. Rumour has it that he returned to the house that is now The Allerdale Court Hotel.

Directions:
From the East: Scotch Corner A66 to Cockermouth.

From the South: M6 to J40 (Penrith) then A66 to Cockermouth.

From the North: Either from Carlisle on A595, or on M6 to J40 (Penrith) then A66.

Scenic route from the South (slower route): From M6 to J36 (Kendal) then A591 to Keswick then A66 to Cockermouth.

Once you are in Cockermouth, drive to the end of Main Street, over the bridge and turn first right. The Allerdale Court is immediately on the left hand side in Market Place.

At the Allerdale Court Hotel we have two exceptional restaurants, Oscars and Pickwicks. Dining at The Allerdale Court is an important part of any guest’s stay and it is not by chance that both of our two restaurants have earned fine reputations both locally and nationally. Both restaurants offer superb freshly cooked food, and plenty of it, served with smiling experience to your table. The Pickwick is a traditional British Silver served restaurant while Oscars, a Latin themed restaurant, is a busy, fashionable night time venue with plenty of grills, steaks, fish and specialities. To complement both restaurants, our bar offers the full range of wines, ales and spirits that you would expect to find in a Lakeland hostelry. A traditional Lakeland welcome awaits you and open fire and original oak beams help to create a relaxing atmosphere. For menu details from our restaurants click on either of the menu links below. The Pickwick option includes; a Table d'hτte Menu, A La Carte Menu and a traditional 3-course Sunday Lunch.

The Allerdale Court Hotel is pleased to announce that we have contacted all our food suppliers to ascertain whether the products that we buy from them contain any genetically modified materials. Our suppliers have assured us, to the best of their knowledge, all ingredients that they supply us are free from genetically modified materials.

Along with the most familiar pursuits of guests to a town situated in the English Lakes, such as fell-walking, sailing or just enjoying the breathtaking scenery, the hotel is close to the "Lorton Valley", one of the most spectacular but little known of the areas to visit. Fishing is available on the river Derwent, one of the best Salmon rivers in England, which is only a hundred yards from the hotel and is an ideal location for an evening stroll.
