  Room Amenities

10 comfortable bedrooms with ensuite facilities comprising of 2 small and 4 medium size bedrooms in the coach house and four larger bedrooms in the main house.

All rooms are centrally heated and have full en-suite facilities.

  Inn Amenities

Abbey House, Maxey, having all the appearance of a substantial Georgian House, hides a wealth of history and dates in part from 1190ad. A Grade II listed building set in a conservation area in the quiet village of Maxey, it is within ten minutes drive of the centres of Stamford, Peterborough and the A1 or Great North Road. As such, it provides and ideal situation either as a staging post or as a peaceful base for businessmen and women working in Peterborough or Stamford, or for touring the eastern shires with their wealth of castles, abbeys, cathedrals, stately homes and delightful stone built market towns and villages which characterise this small region where four counties meet.

* An elegant breakfast room - local produce includes the special sausages from pigs fed on grain from Maxey's own watermill.

* A comfortable guest lounge with medieval features and log fires in winter months.

* Ample parking in the grounds.

* Delightful gardens featuring an 800 year old yew tree, believed to be the oldest in the county.

  Area Activities

Abbey House is central to an area rich in history, midway between the cities of Cambridge and Lincoln - and close by Stamford, arguably England's finest stone town and location of period dramas such as Middlemarch. Its narrow streets, squares and passageways play host to the kind of shops - leathershops, teashops, art, antique, gunshops and second hand book shops that have all but disappeared from so many English towns.
