  Inn Amenities

We are proud to have been awarded 5 diamonds by the English Tourism Council and in October 2003 were awarded their prestigious Gold Award for Guest Accommodation.

Our guests will be able to enjoy the house and gardens as they please, as they will be the only guests during their stay, unless otherwise requested. They can take their breakfast in the dining room, conservatory or even on their bedroom balcony. Before dinner they can sip a drink in the magnificent drawing room, or in the large jungle-like conservatory. They can lose themselves in the garden or play a game of croquet to work up their appetite!

Chattan gardens have large lawns on different levels, and contain many unusual trees and shrubs, with towering rhododendrons, carpets of bulbs in the spring and ponds fed by a natural fountain, a real garden-lovers paradise.

  Area Activities

This is great walking country, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with a wide variety of coastal, country and moorland walks both in Devon and Dorset. There are numerous National Trust houses and gardens within easy reach. The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligon are two hours drive away for a day trip.

The historic seaside town of Lyme Regis is 5 miles away. The towns narrow streets are lined with many listed buildings and delightful shops with a profusion of art, crafts, books, antiques and specialist food shops and eateries. At the western end of the town is 'The Cobb' an ancient harbour wall, the harbour is busy with fishing and recreational boats. To the west is Monmouth Beach where at low tide about 200yds from the Cobb can be found an amazing ammonite graveyard. From the Cobb area you can access the wonderfully wild and beautiful 'Landslips' Nature Reserve, an eight mile coastal wilderness that stretches to Axmouth.

Charmouth, 'The Gateway' to the recently designated World Heritage site and acclaimed as 'The Jurassic Coast', is 4 miles to the east. Forde Abbey and gardens is 5 miles to the north. Between Charmouth and Lyme Regis is Lyme Regis Golf Course.
