  Inn Amenities

Insomniacs and asthma sufferers have commented on the beneficial effects of the Biggin air. The diverse nature of the Derbyshire landscape with its dry-stone walling, deep wooden valleys, heather clad moorlands, timeless market towns and villages, provides the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday.

Biggin Hall can offer a high standard of accommodation at seasonal bargain prices. The beauty of the Derbyshire Peak District National Park with its spectacular limestone gritsone terrain has a special appeal in the Autumn and Winter season.

Biggin Hall stands in its own spacious grounds of eight acres and is a protected building of historic interest, Grade II * listed. The present owners have completely renovated it, in keeping with its original character.

Many of the stone mullioned leaded windows have only recently seen daylight again after their obliteration during the window taxes of the 1790's.

Visitors have a choice of two sitting rooms, one with a library, the other with a large open fire place and there is a separate dining room.

There is a public 'phone box (Hartington 84547) exclusively for the use of guests.
We have facilities for most small functions, including a spacious meeting room.

30 yards from the main house is a recently converted 18th century stone building, comprising of five self-contained 'Studio' apartments and one 2-bedroomed suite, each with private bathrooms. They have many amenities, such as colour T.V., silent fridge and tea making facilities. Guests have the use of all the facilities of the main house.

The bothy is situated between the apartments and the main house; rooms have the same amenities as the apartments.

  Area Activities

Biggin Hall is located in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District, with its rolling limestone hills and river valleys. Biggin itself is a small, friendly village nestled in the countryside between the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek, and the spa town of Buxton.

The beautiful haven of Hartington is close by, where the legendary "Ye Olde Cheese Shoppe" serves a variety of delicious local cheeses. There are also several quality public houses in the area which serve meals and a friendly drinking atmosphere

Dovedale stepping stones are about 5 miles away from the Hall.
Dovedale itself is an area of natural beauty which makes it a perfect place to enjoy a stroll.

Also, the Tissington Trail and the High Peak Trail run past Biggin, these old railway routes converted into cycle trails are a great way to see the countryside. Along the trail there are centres where bicycles can be hired.

A great expanse of countryside lies in wait for you to explore. Along with beautiful rolling hills there are spectacular rivers, flora and fauna to capture your attention.

In every season there is something new to see in this superb area. Rain, sun and snow change the landscapes into different dramatic views.
