Doncaster is best known for its horse racing, if you fancy a flutter on the races then Doncaster Racecourse is for you. This flat racing course is one of the oldest in the country. For industrial history and heritage see the famous spectacle and amazing piece of engineering the single span suspension bridge which is the Humber Bridge, and of course home of maritime history the town of Hull's is also famous for 'The Deep' the ultimate sea-life experience in the UK, a museum beautifully designed like a ship the kids will love exploring the depths 'literally', as included in this experience is an underwater lift which can take you 10 feet below!
Soak up wonderful countryside, travel to Sheffield a contemporary haven for art lovers and the metropolis shopping mecca of Meadowhall, one of the largest shopping malls in the country, also a key attraction is the impressive Sheffield’s Millennium Galleries. Check out the numerous cathedrals, churches and historic country houses such as Harewood that provides wonderful days out for the whole family, or try the wild landscape around the Humber Estuary and the urban fringes. Travel and discover old picturesque and colourful fishing village atmosphere with sandy beaches and pretty harbours, stop off at the ancient fishing port of Whitby with strong maritime traditions, oozing charm and character that lies at the mouth of the River Esk. The town's skyline is dominated by the ruins of St. Hilda's Abbey, high on the East Cliff and spreading below is a beautiful harmony of alleyways and narrow streets running down to the busy quayside below and forever associated with Captain Cook and whose dramatic coastal scenery inspired one of the most compelling passages in literature, that of Dracula’s landfall in England.
