Most celebrated for its cove, a natural horseshoe-shaped harbour in a beautiful, almost semi-circular shore-line, with an amazing collection of unique geological treasures featuring natural arches, caves, sea-stacks and high cliffs where you’ll find excellent exposures of folded Jurassic and exposed twisted rock strata. On the cliffs to the east you can sample a fantastic walk along the cliff’s top and where you’ll find the Fossil Forest and Mupe Bay with an ancient soil and tree remains, it is perhaps the most-visited geological locality in Britain, although the footpath is within an MoD Restricted Area and only open at weekends and August. Fishing with rods from the beach is permissible, or you can swim, sunbathe and explore the many beautiful pristine beaches, other activities in the surrounding area include, climbing, mountain biking, bird watching, boat trips and kite flying.
